On this day 22 years ago, Pakistan’s left-handed batsman Saeed Anwar smashed record-breaking 194 runs against India at the Chennai Stadium.
Anwar’s score was the highest One Day International (ODI) individual score at that time.
The injured Saeed Anwar smashed the Indian bowlers all across the ground and is still considered as one of the best innings by a batsman in cricket history.
Sharing the memory, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) tweeted: “#OnThisDay in 1997, India were at the receiving end of Saeed Anwar’s fury as he smashed 194 runs off just 146 balls. A record-breaking innings that still warms the hearts of cricket fans around the world.”
