HYDERABAD: The death toll of the boat capsize incident in Indus River in Jamshoro district has increased to 8.
Jamshoro Deputy Commissioner Fariddudin Mustafa informed on Sunday that five women and three children drowned in the incident while 7 persons were rescued.
He identified the deceased as 35 years old Qaima Machhi, 30 years old Gulzadi Machhi, 25 years old Shahzadi Machhi, 50 years old Aasat Machhi, 35 years old Popri Machhi, one-year-old Imran Machhi and Abdul Wahab Machhi, and two years old Ahmed Machhi.
According to the DC, the dead bodies of Aasat and Popri had been found while the search for the dead bodies of 3 drowned women and as many children was underway.
The DC told that the deceased had gone to Matiari district, located on the left bank of Indus, to buy medicines.
