Terrorist killed after grenade attack on police van in Karachi

KARACHI: A terrorist was killed and two policemen injured after unknown assailants attacked a police van with a hand grenade on Karachi’s Superhighway on Saturday.

According to SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur, four unknown assailants riding two motorcycles attacked a patrolling police van with a hand grenade near Chakar Hotel. As a result, two policemen constable Azmat and ASI Hayyat sustained injuries.

However, in retaliation police have killed one of the attackers, while his three accomplices managed to flee from the scene, SSP Malir said. Police claimed that attackers belonged to a banned outfit organization. Police also claimed to have recovered weapons from the spot.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
