LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly Secretariat under the directives of Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi formed a twenty member steering committee for effective legislation.
The committee had been formed in light of memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the provincial assembly and Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) where the SSDO members would impart awareness to legislators on laws formulated pertaining to National Action Plan to curb extremism during the former governments’ tenure, a press release said.
The core purpose of SSDO’s collaboration with the Punjab Assembly would focus on assisting research and training of the members of the Punjab Assembly on legislation for achieving targets under sustainable development goals, child rights, underage marriages, human trafficking, youth empowerment, rule of law, right to information, climate change and water resources.
The SSDO Director, Syed Kausar Abbas, on the occasion said the members of the assembly required research for proper legislation and the organization would render its assistance while keeping in view the need for credible information and data in this regard.
According to the notification issued by Secretary Punjab Assembly Muhammad Khan Bhatti, the 20-memebr steering committee includes Punjab Minister for Literacy & Non-formal Basic Education Raja Rashid Hafiz, Punjab Minister for Energy Muhammad Akhtar, MPA Syed Manan Khan, Syed Hassan Murtaza, Malik Muhamamad Ahmad Khan, Syed Ali Haider Gilani, Nawabzada Waseem Khan Badozai, Mian Sadiq khursheed, Muhammad Afzal Gill, Muhammad Afzal, Rias Nabeel Ahmed, Sardar Muhmamad Awais Dareshak, Sadia Sohail Rana, Seemabia Tahir, Faraha Agha, Sabeen Gul Khan, Abiuda Bibi, Kanwal Pervaiz Chaudhary, Syeda Uzma Qadri and Raheela Khadim Hussain.
