ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has approved the filing of a reference against Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani the asset beyond means case against the lawmaker.
The decision was made in a meeting of the executive board chaired by NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal.
According to the bureau, Durrani allegedly misused his powers and accumulated assets beyond his means, allegedly causing a loss of more than Rs1 billion to the national kitty.
Durrani was arrested from a hotel in Islamabad in Feb this year. NAB had implicated him in cases of assets beyond known sources of income; illegal appointments of 352 appointees; embezzlement of funds for the construction of MPA’s Hostel and construction of new Sindh Assembly building.
