Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Wednesday informed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) that he won’t be able to appear before interrogators on may 17 “due to prior commitments”.

According to Sindh CM’s Adviser on Information Murtaza Wahab, Bilawal has other appointments on the date and would hence fail to make it to the proceedings by the accountability watchdog.

“NAB has been informed in writing that the PPP chief will not appear in front of officials due to prior commitments,” said Murtaza.

“We urge NAB to reschedule the proceedings to next week.”

Wahab further revealed that the letter issued by NAB to the PPP chairman had been received 5 days after it was sent.

The PPP chief had been served a notice to turn up at the old NAB Rawalpindi Headquarters on May 17 where he was to be questioned in the Park Lane case.

Bilawal has not yet responded to a questionnaire he was handed by the bureau during his first appearance before it in March this year.

According to sources, PPP co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari had given most of replies to the questions put forward to his son by the bureau’s investigation team. Bilawal had, therefore, been summoned alone this time.
