KARACHI: The official vehicle of Zarai Taraqiyati Bank Limited (ZTBL) President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Amanullah Gondal killed a motorcyclist while injuring another at Jamshoro bypass the other day.
According to details, Gondal was on his way to Sehwan Sharif for some official assignments when his official car, GPA-590, hit a motorcyclist near Jamshoro bypass killing a 55-year-old man and seriously injuring another man, who was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
According to reports, the car’s driver sped away from the scene after the incident, however he was later arrested by the police.
The deceased was identified as Wazeer Marri; however, the identity of the injured is yet to be established.
Station House Officer (SHO) Ashfaq Mangi told Pakistan Today that the incident took place on Sunday evening.
“The police followed the official vehicle and arrested driver Zafar Gujjar and took the vehicle GPA-590 into custody,” he added.
“No case has been registered as yet as the injured is receiving treatment,” he said.
However, sources privy to the incident revealed that the police is forcing the deceased’s family to refrain from registering a case against the ZTBL president allegedly due to his official position.
