Notices issued to PTI’s female MPs, ECP in disqualification case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notices to female parliamentarians of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in a disqualification case.

As per details, IHC Justice Amir Farooq heard on pleas seeking disqualification of female PTI MNAs Tashfeen Safdar, Malaika Bukhari and Kanwal Shozeb.

On this occasion, lawyers of MNA Shaista Pervaiz Bukhari and Kanwal Shozeb appeared before the high court.

The plea sought disqualification of nominated female MNA Kanwal Shozeb for ‘changing her statement’ before the court on affair of changing votes’, in accordance with Article 62 & 63.

ECP and nominated female MNAs submitted their replies before the court however applicant’s lawyer demanded more time for its submission.

Considering the lawyer’s request for more time, the court summoned reply till May 30, issuing a notice to NA Secretary.

It may be pertinent to mention that it was Parliamentary Secretary Farrukh Habib, Malaika Bukhari, Kanwal Shozeb and Javeria Zafar who had filed a plea on May 09 in ECP against the appointment of Maryam Nawaz as Vice President of PML-N.
