Imran says tough decisions will prove beneficial for nation

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said that tough decisions would prove beneficial for the nation.

He said this while presiding over a parliamentary party meeting in Islamabad during which PM’s Adviser on Finance Abdul Hafeez Sheikh gave a detailed briefing on the agreement with the International Monetary Fund and Tax Amnesty Scheme.

PM Imran and his economic team also responded to questions asked by MNAs, several of whom expressed their reservations over the increase in gas and power tariff. Sheikh assured the lawmakers that the increase in gas and power tariff won’t affect 75 per cent of the country’s population.

The prime minister on the occasion said that the government was giving Rs216 billion subsidy to the gas and power sectors, however, the government had decided not to give subsidy to institutions that were not performing well.
