CDA Sports Complex under encroachment cover

ISLAMABAD: The sole sports complex in sector I-8 of Islamabad which was established some years ago for the sac of sports activities and walk on at the cost of Rs4 million has been encroached on and various teas stalls have been established inside its premises, Pakistan Today has learnt.

According to the available information the CDA sports complex was established some years ago for sports activities and walking track for the adjacent sector with support of Shifa collage of medicine. The information further added that inside the park senior officials of the District municipal administration (DMA) illegally awarded licenses to mini restaurants and tea stall who latterly grabbed the park.

An official of the Metro Politian Corporation (MCI) told to this scribe wishing not to be named that not only unlawfully the restaurants are established but the Environment wing office which was constructed some years ago are also using by the owners of these restaurants as store for their commodities later the scribe visit the area to cross verify the claim. The office of the environment wing is not only using by these encroachers as a store but as well the office is closed since long despite investing millions on the office.

“Not only the officials of DMA and MCI getting bribes from the restaurants’ owners but as well charging sum from them while using the environment office as store the official further added.

A local resident of the sector Usman Ali told Pakistan Today that in the first phase when the sports complex was established a couple of people came to the place for walking and sports but now, they are grabbed by the mafia while we have submitted various complaints to the concerned authorities but no response till yet.

Its pertained to mention here that the sports complex having dozens of trees which are destroyed by the restaurant mafias violently.

To get the official version of the concerned authorities we made various attempts but they responded that we are unaware of the issue.
