Balochistan Assembly lawmakers on Saturday criticised their woman colleague for bringing along her infant to the House.
Mahjabeen was not only criticised by the MPs, one of them even went on to ask her to leave the House, bringing tears to the woman lawmaker’s eyes.
However, Mahajabeen defended bringing her child to the assembly, saying: “For a working woman to focus on her work, it is essential that she has her child with her.”
Female leaders carrying their babies are appreciated around the world. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who expressed solidarity with Muslims over the Christchurch attack, had arrived at the United Nations assembly session with her baby boy and nobody had criticised her.
There are numerous other examples in the world in which politicians have brought their infants to assemblies.
