IHC extends Miftah’s interim bail till May 30

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday extended former finance minister Miftah Ismail’s interim bail till May 30, in a graft reference regarding Liquefied Natural Gas quota case.

A divisional bench comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the bail plea of the former finance minister.

During outset of the hearing, chief justice asked the investigation officer of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) whether the department wanted to arrest the petitioner.

The NAB investigation officer informed the bench that he had no arrest warrants so far against Miftah Ismail.

The NAB officials requested the bench to grant sometime to submit answer against the bail petition.

At this, the court extended the interim bail of accused till May 30.

It may be mentioned here that the accused had also given an application to submit more documents.

He said an inquiry had been initiated against him to politically victimize him.
