Sindh Nurses Alliance ends 8-day long boycott of duties

KARACHI: Sindh Nurses Alliance on Monday ended its eight-day long protest demonstration and boycotted duties following assurance of Provincial Minister Sindh for Local Government Saeed Ghani and Secretary Health Sindh Saeed Awan.

Talking to PPI, central leader of Sindh Nurses Alliance Ejaz Ali Kaleri, said nurses of Sindh had ended boycott of all kinds of emergencies and protest demonstration after written assurance from authorities concerned of Sindh health department. He informed that negotiations were held between representatives of Sindh Nurses Alliance and Secretary Health Sindh and following points were agreed.

He informed that four-tier formula prepared in consultation with representatives of nursing staff would be expedited for its approval of competent authority within ten days and consequently the same will be notified. He said matter of professional health allowance was already proposed by the health department and will be considered by the finance department in due course of time. He said cases of promotions of medical education and health services nursing will be expedited and placed in DPC and sent for consideration of BSB-II within shortest possible time.

Ijaz Kaleri said Sindh Public Service Commission had already been requested to expedite recruitment process of staff nurses and other posts will be sent to SPSC soon after the approval of change of nomenclature of various posts as agreed under four-tier formula arrangements.

Earlier, nurses of Sindh completely boycotted emergency duties, including intensive care unit (ICU), pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), cardiac intensive care unit (CICU), labour rooms, operation theatres and wards for a week in favour of their demands.
