LONDON: Speaker of the Punjab Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi arrived in London on Friday night.

He was welcomed by PML-Q London chief organiser Naeem Warraich upon arrival at the airport.

Speaking to the media, the PML-Q leader ruled out the possibility of a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif who has been in London since April 10.

He blamed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his younger brother for the prevailing situation in the country.

Elahi rejected rumours that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar was being removed from his office, saying he enjoyed the support of all coalition partners.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif had flown to London on April 10 to see his grandchildren.

In a series of tweets before his departure, Shehbaz said: “I am going to take a quick visit to London to see my grandchildren & go through my own medical checkup and return soon.”

“Because of Judicial grace exercised by Honourable courts, I am now on bail and my name has been taken off the ECL. In these circumstances.”

Earlier, on April 4, the Interior Ministry had removed the name of the opposition leader from the exit control list (ECL) on the directions of Lahore High Court.
