ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday suspended the bail of main accused in Barrister Fahad murder case till the judgment on the appeal filed by the victim’s family against the trial court decision.

The IHC bench also sought record from an anti-terrorism court (ATC) related to the murder case.

A divisional bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani conducted the hearing on an appeal filed by the family of slain Fahad challenging bail of main accused Raja Arshad.

The petitioner had pleaded that the accused had earlier made an attempt to flee abroad after holding interim bail.

The trial court had granted bail to the accused when the case was near to conclusion, he said.

The petition prayed the court to set aside the decision of the ATC granting bail to Raja Arshad.

However, the accused’s counsel opposed the request and appealed that no court in the history had given stay order in such matters without viewing the case record.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the bench stayed the release of accused till next hearing and also sought case record within one week.

It may be mentioned here that the ATC had accepted the bail of accused Raja Arshad, which was challenged before the IHC.
