Fair price shops set up at 30 Ramzan bazars

LAHORE: Fair price shops have been made functional at 30 Ramazan Bazaars in the city where 19 daily-use items are being provided at subsidized rates to people.

More fair price shops were being made operative while the district administration have also decided to instal CCTV cameras at 30 Ramazan bazaars in the city while a control room was also being set up to monitor bazaars.

It was decided in a meeting held under chair of Deputy Commissioner Saleha Saeed here on Thursday.

The DC directed the assistant commissioners and other relevant officials of the district administration to regularly visit Ramazan bazaars and check arrangements.

Under the Ramzan Package-2019, a total of 309 Ramazan Bazaars were being set up in the province and around 2,000 Ramzan Dastar-Khawans (free food points) would be arranged during Ramzan-ul-Mubarak.

All relevant departments would keep strict vigilance on quality, quantity and prices of essential items so that nobody could deprive the poor of this facility. All the line departments had also been assigned duties and directed by the authorities concerned to perform in an efficient manner, while the Utility Stores Corporation would cooperate with the Punjab government for the provision of essential items to the masses during the holy month.

According to SP (security) Faisal Shahzad, a total of 12 SPs, 35 DSPs, 84 inspectors, 257 upper sub-ordinates, 60 lady constables and 3,000 policemen would perform duties at Ramazan Bazaars and mosques at Taraveh during the holy month in the provincial capital. He added that 13,000 volunteers, 110 Police Response Units and 307 Dolphin Squads would also perform duties during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak, while

police patrolling vehicles of 84 police stations of Lahore would also be used.
