KARACHI: Frontier Constabulary (FC) on Wednesday foiled an attempt of a prisoner to escape from Karachi Central Jail.

As per details, a prisoner namely Jahangir managed to cross two security barriers of the jail from Ayub Ward of the jail, where he was kept in custody but was apprehended by the FC personnel.  Sources said the jail administration was unaware about the matter until the prisoner was arrested by the FC personnel.

In 2017, under-trial prisoners, Shaikh Muhammad Mumtaz alias Firoon and Muhammad Ahmed Khan alias Muna had escaped from the judicial complex of Central Prison Karachi.  Startling revelations about the incident indicated that the prisoners had escaped by breaking the prison grill and changed their appearance in the judge’s bathroom.

However, the jail staff came to know about their escape the next day when they were supposed to be presented before the court inside the jail, police sources said. The duo was arrested by the CTD in 2013 for their involvement in dozens of targeted killings.
