ISLAMABAD: An application has been filed against Aurat March organisers in Islamabad High Court (IHC) and a hearing has been set for May 2.

The petition filed against Aurat March organisers calls the campaign ‘immoral’. IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah will hear the case.

The petition says the immoral campaign on the rights of women has left a negative impact on the youth and not controlling such a march is against the Islamic ideology of the country.

The petition states that tough action should be taken against those involved in this march. It also says that those holding “immoral banners” should be identified and their details should be sought from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

Organisers of Aurat March said they have received death and rape threats on social media over the event.

The days following the march saw social media attacks on women, while some prominent men have complained about “obscene” signs carried by protesters. A member of the country’s largest religious political party filed a complaint with police in Karachi where 7,000 women attended the march, saying the protesters “provoked religious sentiments” and spread vulgarity.
