DeliveTree, Servaid Pharmacy organise Green Lahore Drive

LAHORE: Pakistan is facing an environmental crisis; forest cover has deteriorated to less than 2 per cent within the last 10 years.

It is pertinent to mention here that 75 per cent deforestation has devastated Lahore alone, where smog is a serious problem for its citizens of Lahore & triggers a health alert. WHO reports that the major cities in Pakistan are as polluted as the world’s most polluted cities. 59,241 deaths are caused by air pollution each year in Pakistan.

To combat the environmental challenges, DeliveTree a tree revival and engagement enterprise has committed to a target of planting 15 million trees in Lahore and 30 million trees in Punjab by 2024.

DeliveTree aims to bring diverse sectors such as the corporates, the Government, civil society, educational institutes and hospitals together for the purpose of environmental responsibility, awareness and sustainability. After its successful activation at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, DeliveTree in association with Servaid Pharmacy has initiated the ‘Green Lahore Drive” planting 600 trees at Bhawaganpura Asghar Park, Lahore.

Servaid believes that minimising the environmental impact represents the greatest contribution, they can make to biodiversity conservation. Empowering children to take control of their future by planting trees in their community, the children participated in the plantation of indigenous trees and were taught the benefits of indigenous trees to biodiversity. Servaid has also committed to planting 7,200 trees a year with DeliveTree.

The DeliveTree APP will work as a reliable management system providing accurate reporting and analytics of the plantation and maintenance. Regular visits every six months from the DeliveTree team will ensure compliance with the requirements and regulations.

Member of National Assembly (MNA) Ali Pervaiz Malik, inaugurated the Tree Drive.
