NAB chairman approves one reference, 12 inquiries

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Monday gave approval for one reference and 12 inquiries in embezzlement cases.

The NAB Executive Board meeting approved filing of corruption reference against Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader Abdul Rauf Siddiqui.

“Abdul Rauf Siddiqui is accused of illegal hiring and money embezzlement in national exchequer,” said the NAB spokesperson.

The NAB has also approved another inquiry against former president National Bank Saeed Ahmed.

“Saeed Ahmed is a co-accused with deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif in money laundering case. He is also accused of illegal hiring,” said the NAB spokesman.

On April 28, the NAB had apprehended two bank officers in fake bank accounts case in Karachi.

The NAB Rawalpindi team had taken two bank officers, Sher Ali and Muhammad Farooq, into custody over their alleged involvement in fake accounts case.

NAB officials had said that the bank officers were arrested on the charges of providing tampered record to the anti-graft watchdog and their alleged corruption and involvement in approval of loan for Park Lane Estates Pvt Ltd.
