Seven new HIV positive cases detected in Ratodero

RATODERO: As many as seven new HIV positive cases were detected out of 479 tested for HIV at the blood camp established by Sindh AIDS Control Program (SACP) on Saturday.

The new HIV positive cases include 1-year-old Hisam, Irum, 10-year-old Sania, 15-months-old Abdul Manan and others.

The residents have demanded establishment of camp in village Allah Dino Seelaro where large number of villagers have allegedly been infected with the dreaded virus. A large number of citizens came to the camp along with their kids and got their blood screened.

The affected patients complained to Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Siddique Nauman who visited Taluka Headquarter Hospital, Ratodero that due to unavailability of specialist doctors at government hospital they were compelled to get medical treatment for their indisposed children from private doctors and quacks in villages.

They further alleged that private hospitals, clinics and laboratories have become factories of HIV which must be checked properly and immediately to curb further spread of the viral disease.

DC said that soon a crackdown against quacks and illegal labs will be launched. He said it is alarming situation that spread of HIV in large number has surfaced in Ratodero among children causes of which need to be probed thoroughly adding this issue will be addressed seriously.

Taking serious notice of the issue Assistant Commissioner Ratodero, Qazi Sardar Ahmed sealed five illegal laboratories which include Urooj Laboratory, Sheeraz Laboratory, Indus Laboratory, Nuclear Laboratory and Sindh Green Laboratory.
