LHC cancels order of declaring ex-CJP’s son-in-law PO

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday annulled an order declaring former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s son-in-law Dr Murtaza Amjad a proclaimed offender.

A two-member bench of the high court headed by Justice Malik Shehzad heard a petition of Murtaza Amjad.

The petitioner’s lawyer Asad Manzoor Butt argued that the NAB chairman didn’t approve a reference against Murtaza Amjad, however the accountability court illegally declared him a proclaimed offender on September 12, 2018.

Murtaza Amjad was illegally taken into custody through Interpol and the accountability court on a plea of NAB issued his arrest warrant, which was also unlawful, the counsel argued.

Murtaza Amjad is facing a NAB inquiry into the Eden Housing Scheme scam along with his father.
