LAHORE: The Punjab Bar Council on Saturday demanded the removal of a Supreme Court judge, Justice Qazi Faez Isa, for criticising the army and premier spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence, in a verdict on Faizabad sit-in.

The PBC said approved a resolution comprising six points in this regard.

The resolution demanded that Justice Qazi Faez Isa should be removed from the post and that an action should be taken against him under Article 209 (V).

The council claimed that the said judge violated laws by “targeting intelligence agencies” in Faizabad sit-in case. “He should not have ‘mocked’ of the state institutions, especially Pakistan Army,” said the resolution.

The council said members of the judiciary should work within the authorities bestowed to them by the constitution.

It also lauded the decision to remove former Islamabad High Court judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, terming it a “correct measure”.  Siddiqui had criticised the intelligence agencies for interfering in judicial matters last year.

The resolution said the Karachi Bar Association’s challenging the decision of removal of Shaukat Aziz was beyond understanding.
