Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai on Monday said that a policeman was martyred and five terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Peshawar’s Hayatabad Phase 7 area.
He said that the police had received some information about a terrorist hideout in Hayatabad and soon a timely operation was conducted after which the entire area was cordoned off. He added that the operation lasted two hours during which the militants attacked the police from inside the safety of their homes. However, he further said, the police moved inside the house to clear it.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Qazi Jameelur Rehman said that during the operation a policeman was martyred while a terrorist was killed. Peshawar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Zahoor Afridi said that there could be more casualties on the militants’ side.
