–Party’s Convener Siddiqui says Sindh has already been divided with implementation of quota system by PPP govt

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Saturday demanded Prime Minister Imran Khan to intervene in Sindh to rescue the province in the aftermath of 18th Amendment.

Convener of MQM-P Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, while addressing a press conference along with other core party members, said that, “There are two (2) Sindhs, only an official announcement is due.”

Owing to the biased approach of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Siddiqui explained that Sindh had already been divided “with the implementation of quota system and by stripping the Muhajir community off their properties under the pretext of nationalisation,” he stated referring to Pakistanis who had migrated from India following the 1947 partition.

“In the name of so-called provincial autonomy, resources of people were snatched,” he lambasted.

Public and the MQM were betrayed as the 18th Amendment came into effect, Siddiqui complained while calling for the transfer of provincial resources to the grass-root level.

“Karachi is quickly falling prey to the water shortage and other issues,” MQM’s convener continued.

He said the categorization of urban and rural areas [of Sindh] is now been defined merely by linguistic differences.

Siddiqui stressed for legal steps to ensure the fulfillment of urban centers’ rights, adding that people were given employment on the basis of rural quota and then were deployed in cities.

“All commissioners, deputy commissioners and other officials of Karachi belong to the interior Sindh,” this quota system is giving rise to the hatred in urban areas of the province, the MQM-P chief said.

Pushing PM Khan to use his constitutionals authority in the matters of Karachi, the leadership of MQM-P asserted that the federal government was obliged to take action against the disparities of people under the Article 149 of the Constitution of Pakistan.

The MQM-P further announced to organize a power show on April 27 in Bagh-e-Jinnah.
