After stirring controversy with alleged claims of two billion jobs within two weeks, Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda now promises another ‘burst of 28,000 jobs’ in his ministry.

Speaking on a Geo News programme, Vawda said he stood firm on his statement regarding forthcoming jobs. “28,000 jobs alone would be there in my ministry within a year,” he claimed, saying that everything would come to the fore in 10 weeks,” the minister told Saleem Safi of Jirga.

He also promised “vehicles and soft drink manufacturing plants” as new gas reserves would be found.

He said several airlines were going to start their service in Pakistan, reiterating that there would “jobs and jobs” in the country.

Faisal Vawda on Thursday said that the government would announce one billion jobs within the next two weeks as per an APP report.

Meanwhile, the minister denied the report, demanding an apology from the news outlet for publishing the “false news”.

“The newspaper must apologise for this news “and the way they have sensitised it by giving this false number of ‘one billion’ which I never claimed,” he said. “If they don’t retract the statement then I’ll take legal action and file a complaint to the relevant department,” he added.
