KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday expressed annoyance at the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) over its poor performance pertaining to the recovery of more than 70 missing persons. It sought a report from the FIA Director General and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh until May 8.
A two-member bench of the SHC, headed by Justice Naimtullah Phulputo, heard the multiple pleas of more than 70 missing persons, filed by their relatives and families, and expressed annoyance at the poor performance of police and IFA.
The bench remarked: “Police and FIA do nothing, we will call IGP Sindh to see his police officer’s performance. The concern is that IGP Sindh even does not fulfill his duty,” said Justice Phulpoto. Hee remarked that families of missing persons were worried owing to the disappearance of their beloved ones, but no one was concerned about it.
The bench got annoyed over DSP Naeem and remarked: “A citizen Nadeem is missing for four years, but DSP Nadeem did not provide National Identity Card (NIC) of the missing person to FIA.”
The Investigation Officer (IO) of the case told the court that FIA had provided relevant documents regarding the travel history of another missing citizen, Faheem-ul-Islam but after a long delay.
Upon this, Justice Phulputo remarked: “FIA does nothing; the court is disappointed with FIA.”
Justice KK Agha remarked that it seemed lack of coordination between police and FIA.
The court sought a detailed report from the FIA DG and IGP Sindh police in next hearing. It also sought the report from in-charge of centers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FIA, Rangers and Sindh police on May 8.
