Tax money to be utilised properly: minister

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Revenue Malik Muhammad Anwar has assured the nation that the present government would ensure the best utilisation of tax money collected from taxpayers.

Addressing the National Tax Day celebrations arranged by the Punjab Revenue Authority, the Finance Department in collaboration with GIZ, a German Tax Management Company, held at a local hotel on Wednesday, he said that the present government under the leadership of PM Imran Khan was pursuing a vigorous policy for improvement in tax reforms and elimination of corruption in the public sector.

The minister said that tax collection had vital importance in the economic progress of the country and without reforming the tax culture, economic progress was unable to achieve.

He urged the tax machinery to assure taxpayers that their taxes were being utilized for their welfare so that tax collection targets could be achieved.

Malik Anwar said that the PTI-led government was struggling against corruption and pursuing transparent policies so that the public might repose their trust in the government.

The minister also asked for ease of doing business and reforming tax returns system for the public for promoting tax culture.

Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht as a chief guest, Minister for Excise and Taxation Hafiz Mumtaz and officers were also present.
