LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has decided to file new corruption references against the Sharif family.
The approval for this was given by Prime Minister Imran Khan in a parliamentary meeting in Lahore.
Reportedly, the federal and provincial departments have collected data regarding the alleged corruption of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) bigwigs.
The prime minister also said that keeping in view the past experiences about local governments, a well-coordinated and comprehensive local government system was being introduced in Punjab which would bring about a revolutionary change in governance style.
He further said that an unprecedented, detailed and comprehensive poverty alleviation programme also introduced by the PTI government would have far-reaching results. The prime minister, on this occasion, also directed to ensure that the wheat growers in Punjab got the appropriate price of their produce, adding all irregularities in this respect should be eliminated.
He also directed to take special measures to curb inflation and price-hike during the holy month of Ramzan.
Following the meeting, PTI Punjab President Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed said that the premier had directed the ministers to uncover the alleged corruption of the Sharif family and they will soon face fresh corruption cases.
Earlier, the prime minister held a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in Lahore when the latter called on him during his day-long visit. During the meeting, both discussed the overall political situation, administrative issues and matters of mutual interest.
CM Buzdar informed the prime minister about the working of the Punjab government and the performance of the provincial ministers. He also apprised the premier about the construction of shelter homes in Punjab.
In his last visit to Lahore on March 30, PM Imran had inaugurated non-stop Jinnah Express train and launched the renovation works at the Lahore Railway Station.
He had said that the government was going to launch a health insurance programme for the poor. He said all the week segments of society should get the health cards in Pakistan.
