Hina Rabbani to sue Fawad for defamation

Former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Tuesday announced that she would be sending a defamation notice to Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry over his “false allegations”.

In a tweet, she said that the incumbent government is levelling baseless allegations against the opposition to hide its “incompetence”. She further said that while she has always ignored slander and false allegations, she now believes that all of politics has reduced to name-calling, false allegations and character assassination.

“I am serving a defamation notice to the Hon Min for Information. In my 16 yrs in politics I have always chosen to ignore slander & false allegations but it seems politics has now been reduced to name calling, false accusations & character assassination,” she tweeted.

Earlier on Tuesday, Fawad put power theft allegations against the former foreign minister.

Fawad claimed that the Hina had been on stay order in a case of power theft against her.
