ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Tuesday said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was acting on the “cry foul” policy to divert attention from its incompetence.

The statement by the PML-N spokesperson came in reaction to Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry’s allegations that Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari were the central characters of money laundering saga, while there were dozens of other characters with side roles.

Marriyum said she could understand Chaudhry’s discomfort, adding, “People have come to know of the modus operandi of this fake government. It is acting on cry foul policy to divert attention from its incompetence”.

She said the people were aware of the fact that the country’s external debt grew by $15 million per day over the past nine months.

The PML-N spokesperson said her party’s government constructed 1700-kilometre-long motorway and set up plants to add 11,000 megawatts of electricity by taking loans.

She credited the former PML-N government for eradicating terrorism from the country and initiating projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

“The prices of gas and electricity were hiked by 141 and 25 percent respectively over the past nine months,” Marriyum noted.

She also shamed the government for approaching the International Monetary Fund (IMF) like “thieves”.

“Tell the masses what the IMF conditions are, how much the price of dollar will increase,” The PML-N spokesperson demanded the government.

“Tell them how much the prices of electricity, gas and petrol will increase, and the projected hike in inflation.”

She also called on the incumbent government to bring before the masses Aleema Khan and Jahangir Tareen’s methods of laundering money and facts pertaining to that.

Marriyum also called for making public corruption worth Rs1 billion in Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit project.
