UCL team qualifies for international law moot

LAHORE: University College Lahore (UCL) made history on Thursday by being one of the top 32 Qualifying Teams to the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2019, held in Washington D.C, USA. This is the first time that a team from Pakistan has qualified for the knockout rounds.
UCL speaker Sana Muhammad also won the ‘Best Oralist Award’ in the International Rounds.
Competing this year in the National Rounds, 143 of which qualified further to the International rounds, and only 32 qualify to the Advanced Rounds. It consists of law students arguing a fictional case in a court room environment. The program was sponsored by the US Embassy.
The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is an advocacy competition for law students. Teams of law students compete against one another through the presentation of oral and written pleadings to address timely issues of public international law in the context of a hypothetical legal dispute between nations.
