Health reforms under way says Buzdar

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Sunday said that the provincial government has commenced a comprehensive programme for health reformations.

CM Buzdar, in his message on World Health Day, said that a healthy society is established only through healthy individuals.

He said that observance of the international day aimed to spread awareness of good health.

The chief minister said that the provincial government has set targets to modify the system of healthcare in accordance with the modern era.

“A comprehensive road-map is being implemented for the provision of modern medical facilities,” Buzdar said.

The World Health Day is celebrated on April 7 every year under the sponsorship of the World Health Organisation and its subsidiaries.

In 1948, the WHO’s First World Health Assembly had decided to celebrate “World Health Day”, with effect from 1950, to mark the founding of the organisation and drawing worldwide attention to the importance of global health, as millions of people still have no access at all to health care.

The World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on 7 April, under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as other related organizations.

International, regional and local events are organised on the day, as it is one of eight official global health campaigns marked by WHO, along with World Tuberculosis Day, World Immunization Week, World Malaria Day, World No Tobacco Day, World AIDS Day, World Blood Donor Day, and World Hepatitis Day.
