LARKANA: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday said that the role and contributions of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto are vast and exemplary which is why even though his martyrdom dates back to forty years, he is still alive in the hearts and minds of the masses.
In his message on the 40th death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the first elected prime minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam, changed the course of the history while the Quaid-e-Awam Bhutto paved the way for a democratic revolution and created immense awareness for democracy and its blessings due to which chauvinist, anti-democratic and radical forces would always find it difficult to impose their anti-democratic agendas or rule over the country.
He said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s immense contributions on the forefront of politics, diplomatic, economic and international affairs are praiseworthy and thought-provoking.
Bilawal further said that as Bhutto always believed in consensus hence, he gave the unanimously approved Constitution of 1973, which was indeed, a manifestation of real consensus.
“The motive behind his gigantic efforts for Pakistan-China friendship was laid in that very characteristic of his inspiring personality. Sino-Pakistan relations have turned into a practical aspect of one body and two souls,” he said while adding that his grandfather made the country’s defence invincible and introduced people-friendly policies with which the working classes benefitted.
Bilawal concluded by saying that the present situation that has prevailed over the country calls for the supremacy of the parliament and constitution because it is all that revolves around the ideology of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
