The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during a press conference in Larkana on Tuesday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had brought a tsunami of issues for poor people ever since it came into power.
“The people of Pakistan are drowning in the tsunami of inflation ever since Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf came to power,” he said. “This is a strange government, where the finance minister says that [the government’s] economic policies will make people scream. Instead of providing them relief to people, they are tormenting people with their economic policies.”
He further took a jibe at Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s statement about Ghotki during his speech there on Saturday, saying that the premier announcing that he will not come to Ghotki to ask for votes but to work for the people’s development is an “insult” to the people of Ghotki because it means that the latter thinks that “Sindh holds no electoral importance”.
“A prime minister comes to [the people] and says that I don’t need Sindh; what kind of a statement is this? You are the prime minister of the whole country. You are not the prime minister of one province, one city or one seat. You should apologise [for your remarks], how can you say this, how can you use such words?” said Bilawal.
In response to a question regarding the high number of forced conversions and specifically the recent incident of two sisters being forcibly converted from Hinduism and married to Muslim men, the PPP leader said that the practice was “against our religion as well as our traditions”.
“We don’t want forced conversions to happen anywhere in the country. PPP has a very clear stance on this [issue],” he added.
However, he did not say how and what action his party was taking to counter the issue.
