National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has ruled out any consideration to revoke the 18th constitutional amendment, a local news channel reported on Tuesday.
While speaking in a ceremony in Swabi, Asad said, “Centre enjoying limited powers and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement regarding the amendment should not be taken wrongly.”
On Sunday, addressing a rally at Khangarh in Ghotki, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said after the 18th Amendment, the federation has become bankrupt.
Asad’s remarks came after former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s criticism on Imran Khan over the 18th Amendment on 1st April, in which he alleged that Prime Minister is violating the constitution and that his government has paralyzed the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, defending the prime minister, Qaiser said Imran Khan has no plans to changing Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).
