ISLAMABAD: Brigadier (r) Ijaz Shah on Tuesday took oath as a federal minister of parliamentary affairs.
President Arif Alvi administered the oath at Aiwan-e-Saddar in Islamabad. The oath-taking ceremony was attended by federal ministers and other office holders.
Shah won the election from the constituency of NA-118 Nankana Sahib in the general elections 2018. He was a close aide of former president Pervez Musharraf and served as the director-general of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) from 2004 to 2008.
Last week, Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter to announce Shah s appointment by stating, “On the recommendation of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the president has approved the appointment of Brigadier (rtd) Ijaz Shah as a federal minister.”
The strength of the federal cabinet has expanded to 44 members, including five state ministers and 25 federal ministers.
