FAISALABAD: A man shot dead his sister to save his ‘honour’ in Faisalabad’s Kanjwani area, a local newspaper reported on Sunday.

As per primary investigation, Garh Police Station SHO Rai Muhammad Farooq said, “Surraiya Bibi was living with her husband and got separate over divorce due to some differences.”

She went back to her parent’s house after the divorce in Shadi Peeran, he added.

The SHO claimed that Surraiya Bibi’s brother Riaz assumed that her sister was in a relationship with a man near his house.

Riaz took out his pistol after a heated argument with Surraiya Bibi over suspicion and opened fire at her, according to police officials.

The police have registered an FIR against the culprit and are conducting raids to arrest him.

On March 25, a woman was killed over ‘honour’ after marrying on her own free will in Lahore.

30-year-old Uzma’s brothers identified as Azhar and Qasim, were maddened by her decision. The victim went to her parent’s home to meet them, on the day of the incident. Her brothers attacked her with an axe, which injured her severely. She was unable to survive the attack.

Victim’s sister Tehmina also sustained injuries while trying to shield her. Police have detained the culprits and put them behind the bars.
