Fawad again asks Nawaz to opt for plea bargain

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday suggested to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif that plea bargain was the easy way out and he should return wealth of the nation.

In a tweet he said, this was the fourth day after release of Nawaz Sharif but he was still not admitted in the hospital.

Fawad wondered whether the aim was to just come out of jail or Nawaz Sharif is waiting for the last week of his bail for illness.

He suggested Nawaz a ‘solution’ as a way out through a plea bargain – a provision which is contained within Section 25 in the NAB Ordinance, 1999. “You were honoured by the general public thrice; return their [people] money,” he said.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court granted bail to former premier Nawaz Sharif for six weeks against a surety bond of Rs5 million in a petition filed on medical grounds in Al-Azizia corruption reference; however, with a restriction that he cannot leave the country.
