Jawad Ahmad explains ‘anti-PM’ comments which led to ban during SM conclave

Singer turned Politician Jawad Ahmad on Friday was taken off the podium during a social media enclave in Faisalabad after allegedly speaking against the prime minister.

Ahmad, who is a critic of the previous and incumbent government, had spoken against the government’s policies. He was barred in the middle of his speech by the organisers when he criticised Prime Minister Imran Khan and former premier Nawaz Sharif. He said he felt humiliated by the reactions of the organizers and left the venue after the incident. Jawad Ahmed was invited as a guest speaker in the event.

He had said that both the current and previous governments are busy in mudslinging and accusing each other of corruption. Similarly, he added, the democratic governments had been dubbing the martial law regimes corrupt and vice versa. This, he said, meant that so far the country could not have an honest and fair government.

As soon as he uttered these words, one of the organisers stepped in and stopped the guest speaker from speaking further. The organiser then told the other guest speakers to refrain from criticising Imran Khan and chanted slogans in his favour.

Taking to Twitter to explain his position, the Barabri Party of Pakistan (BPP) chairman said, “Just to clarify to those who don’t know. I was invited in Faisalabad today as Chairman Barabri Party Pakistan by Social Media Conclave to make a political speech and not to speak on social media. That is why I criticised policies of PTI in general and Imran Khan in particular,” Ahmad wrote on Twitter.

“Anyone having any doubt about it should contact the organisers of that event. What I said there was what I went there for. And I made it clear in my speech too,” he said, adding, “I told the audience about how Imran Khan is representing/serving the 1 per cent and not 99 per cent in Pakistan. That Imran Khan had gone to London a few years ago to support his Ex Brother in Law Billionaire Zac Goldsmith against Sadiq Khan, son of an Expat Pakistani bus driver. Sadiq Khan had won.”

The BPP chief further said, “I don’t think it was personal at all. It was just a hard historical fact which Imran Khan can never deny. It showed the class character of Imran Khan. A man is known by his actions and the company he keeps. Imran Khan’s politics was built with rich people’s money. Payback time now.”

“Also, another thing that people really have to know is that Zac Goldsmith, Imran Khan’s Ex Brother in Law that he supported against Sadiq Khan in London Mayor’s election was criticised later for his role in promoting Islamophobia & racism against the immigrant during his campaign,” the 48-year-old added.

In a video, he further explained that his comments had drawn appreciation from the youngsters present in the audience. He added that he does not hate anyone for their reaction and expressed hope that soon people would join his party and they would be able to build a better Pakistan.
