PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday expressed shock and displeasure over the incident of stones pelting at vehicle of Senior Civil Judge (Judicial) Peshawar by a mob in jurisdiction of Dara Adam Khel on March 27.

Expressing its concern over the incident, Peshawar High Court has written letter of displeasure to Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa conveying its grave concerns over the safety and protection of judicial officers while discharging their official duties.

It is to informed that Senior Civil Judge (Judicial) Peshawar Abdul Qayum Siddiqui was interrupted  by furious mob from carrying on exhumation of deceased Saad Ullah in FIR No. 125 dated 02-3-2019  U/S 302/202 PS Matani.

According to Senior Civil Judge (Judicial) Abdul Qayum Siddiqui before proceeding for exhumation, he had sought full security from Deputy Commissioner Kohat and Assistant Commissioner Dara Adam Khel through letters dated 25-03-2019, but despite this prior information about his planned visit neither proper security was provided nor he was rescued and provided help when his vehicle was surrounded by furious mob holding sticks and pelting stones.

This incident reflected lack of interest, negligence and inefficiency on the part of administration towards upholding the rule of law, due to which a judicial officer could not perform his official duty.
