–Maryam says ‘recurrent angina and deterioration of renal function are prime concerns’ about former PM’s health

LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who is suffering from poor cardiac and renal health, was taken to Sharif Medical City Hospital on Thursday for an evaluation of his medical condition.

He was accompanied by his personal physician Dr Adnan Khan.

The Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) supremo is suffering from renal and cardiac ailments. His blood samples were drawn for tests before he departed the hospital for his Jati Umra residence.

Former first daughter Maryam Nawaz also shared updates about her father’s health on her Twitter handle, saying “recurrent angina and deterioration of renal function are prime concerns” about Nawaz’s health.

In the second tweet, she mentioned that issues pertaining to renal and cardiac health of the ex-premier were more “complicated and serious that we already know”.

“His renal & cardiac issues are more complicated & serious than what we already know. We shall know conclusively once we are through with the investigations & have the doctors’ recommendations before us. Till then aggressive and continuous management is crucial,” she added.

Nawaz was released from Kot Lakhpat Jail and reached his residence in Lahore late on Tuesday night, hours after the Supreme Court granted him bail for six weeks to receive medical treatment from a doctor of his choice within the country.

He will not be allowed to leave the country during the six-week period.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Dr Khan said the former premier was unwell with “significant heart disease” and deteriorating kidney condition. He added that a team of experts had been put together for Nawaz’s medical evaluation but did not disclose the names of the members.

On Wednesday, the former premier also held consultations with family members and close associates regarding his treatment and the court cases against the former first family.
