India martyrs four in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Indian troops have killed at least four people — three in Shopian and one in Kupwara district– in occupied Kashmir on Thursday in a fresh spate of violence.

According to the Kashmir Media Service, the three youth were martyred during a cordon and search operation in Yarwan area of the Shopian district.

A police official talking to mediaperson said that the soldiers cordoned off the forest area on the tail end of the district and started a search operation at around 2:30 am. An Indian official claimed to have killed three “militants” in Shopian district on Thursday. 

Meanwhile, Indian forces belonging to 30 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and Special Operation Group launched a violent cordon and search operation at Yaroo in Langate area of Kupwara district. As a result, one person was killed.

On the other hand, Indian troops during a cordon and search operation set ablaze a residential house in Tangbal- Kujar area of Kulgam district.

Locals of the area talking to media men said that the flames emerged out of the house within minutes after the troops fired tear smoke shells inside it. The troops who carried the operation belonged to the Rashtriya Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force.
