Govt to give Rs5bn relief package for people living along LoC: AJK PM

ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister, Raja Farooq Haider has announced that the federal government will provide Rs5 billion financial package to the people living along the Line of Control (LoC).

Haider Thursday paid a visit to Khoi Ratta sector along the restive ceasefire line bordering with India

While addressing a public gathering, Haider said, “I am here to show solidarity with brave brothers of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.”

The AJK PM said that the government has taken responsibility of resolving issues of people in areas located along the LoC. He added that approximately 0.6 million people are residing in the areas five kilometres away from the ceasefire.

He announced that the government would provide LoC residents of bunkers, first aid posts and educational institutions facilities. He paid salute to the local residents who stood like a concrete wall at the ceasefire line amid recent escalation between Pakistan and India.

Haider promised to continue visiting areas adjacent to the Line of Control (LoC). He said, “Indian troops had resorted to firing at me four times, but I will continue visiting LoC.”

Indian military doesn’t get supported by its nationals, he added. Haider said that Kashmiris from both sides of the border have firm confidence on Pakistani armed forces. The AJK PM said that armies win wars only with the support of their nations.
