Absar Zahoor Dhar, a civil engineering student and model belonging to the Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK), was attacked by a violent mob in Bengaluru and beaten up brutally with iron rods.

Talking about the horrific incident, the 24-year-old victim told media persons he’s not aware of why he was attacked by the mob. He said he was attacked while having coffee after gym.

On March 19, almost four to five people, he said, armed with iron rods dragged him out of the shop and started beating him.

Dhar sustained injuries on his hand, head and face after the attack.

The victim funds his studies by modelling. He said that he continues to live in fear.

“The assailants are roaming freely in front of my house and I am not able to attend college as well,” Dhar added.

As after the Pulwama attack, such incidents have seen a rise in India. Earlier this month, some Kashmiri vendors were thrashed by an extremist party’s mob and it was only recently that a Muslim family in Gurgaon was attacked by a violent mob on Holi.

However, in Dhar’s case, the police have said that that has nothing to do with the Pulwama attack.
