LAHORE: Several Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers who had stopped the Rawalpindi-bound Tezgam train outside the Kot Lakhpat have been taken into custody by Lahore police on late Saturday night.

A large number of PML-N workers thronged Kot Lakhpat jail on the occasion of Pakistan Day on Saturday besides Maryam Nawaz who also visited the prison to see her father Nawaz Sharif.

The police failed to control the PML-N workers at the gate of the Kot Lakhpat jail, who marched towards the building while breaking all the barriers.

The party workers later gathered in front of the engine of the train. One of the workers embarked on the engine and hoisted party flag on it.

Taking the notice of the incident, Lahore police has booked around 250 PML-N workers and started the process of arrest.

Late night, Police had also arrested PML-N leader Shafqat Hasnain Panda who was leading the protest outside the jail.
