Govt allocates Rs749m for education sector

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has allocated an amount of Rs749 million for the establishment of seven new, as well as up-gradation of seven old public sector model, schools and colleges in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

According to the sources, the decision to this effect has been taken under the Ministry of Education and Professional Training’s plan for the up-gradation of all educational institutions working under Federal Directorate of Education(FDE).

Talking to APP, they said that different public sector schools and colleges of the ICT are included in the up-gradation process during the fiscal years 2019-20.

Among the new educational institutions to be established by the current year, Rs 20 million have been allocated for Islamabad Model School for Boys Gorra Shahan while the total cost of the project would be 57 million.

The sources informed that Rs 200 million has been allocated for the establishment of Islamabad Model College for Girls G-13/1, while the total cost of the project would be 421 million.

Similarly, an amount of Rs 175 million has been allocated for the establishment of Boys Model College G-15, Rs 150 million for the establishment of Boys Model College Pakistan Town and Rs 50 million for the establishment of Boys Model College G-13/2.

A Boys Model College would also be established in sector B-17 with Rs 50 million while the same amount has also been allocated for the establishment of  Girls Model College in G-14/4.

Under the up-gradation process during Fiscal Year 2019-20, the furniture and lab equipment would be purchased along with additional construction for the Islamabad Model College G-9/4 with Rs 20 million.

However, Rs 10 million has been allocated for the construction of boundary wall of Islamabad Model College I-8/3, Rs 20 million for the construction of boundary wall of Lohi Bhair Model College and Rs 20 million for the up-gradation of Baain Nolla Model School for Girls.

The sources further told that Rs 10 million would be utilized for the establishment of building of Islamabad Model School for Girls Tarlai, while Rs 50 million are allocated for the renovation of Islamabad Model College for Boys Bhara Kahu.

An amount of Rs 50 million has also been allocated for the Islamabad Model College Margalla Town, the sources added.

It is worth mentioning here that ministry of federal education has suggested allocating an amount of Rs 949 million for fiscal year 2019-20 under Public Sector Development Projects(PSDP) for the establishment and renovation of these model schools and colleges.
