KARACHI: A woman and her two children were killed on Friday when a fire engulfed their house located on Jamshed Road.
The three deceased have been identified as 30-year-old Shumaila, eight-year-old Insiya and seven-year-old Sufiyan. The children’s father is abroad for employment purposes.
Speaking to reporters, the children’s grandfather said he got to know of the fire due to the smoke coming from the house. “We broke the doors, but were unable to save my daughter-in-law and grandchildren”.
The fire was extinguished by rescues officials and police said the fire was a result of a short-circuit.
In the last 24 hours, this is the second incident of a fire claiming lives in Karachi. On Thursday, two people were killed when they jumped from a burning building.
