LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz has said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is still not feeling any better as he is suffering from continuous angina.
Along with her grandmother Shamim Begum and other family members, Maryam visited her incarcerated father at the Kot Lakhpat Jail on Thursday. The PML-N workers showered rose petals on the car of the Sharif family and chanted slogans in their favour.
Speaking to media while returning from jail, Shamim Begum said that she hopes her son will soon be released as all her prayers are with him.
“Today again during the meeting he had to use the sublingual spray for the pain and breathlessness. Please remember him in your daily prayers. Thank you all,” Maryam tweeted after meeting the former premier.
Responding to Maryam’s tweet, Punjab CM’s Spokesperson Dr Shahbaz Gill quoted the doctors as saying that the former premier is healthy. Nawaz’s blood pressure is normal and he had a healthy breakfast, Gill tweeted.
The daughter of the former premier had said a day earlier that Nawaz would not be able to receive any visitors owing to his ill condition.
“May Allah SWT bless him with long life and good health (Ameen). We all need him. Pakistan needs him. Thank you, everyone, for your kind & continuous support. Means a lot to me,” she added.
Nawaz was sentenced to seven years in prison in the Al-Azizia corruption reference while his legal team has filed a petition to have his sentence suspended on medical grounds. He is incarcerated at the Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail.
