LAHORE: The Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) has announced that it would start issuing fard online from June this year and has given access of land record to 32 banks to make it easier for farmers to secure loans quickly, Pakistan Today has learnt.

PLRA arranged an introductory session for newly-appointed officers of 153 Arazi Record Centres (ARC) of 143 tehsils of the province. Addressing the ceremony, PLRA Director General (DG) Muhammad Aslam Rao said, “The ACR staff is the backbone of the department and this sector we are currently lagging behind but hopefully, our new appointments would help us overcome this issue and enable us to provide better services to the public.”

He also said that PLRA is taking initiatives to facilitate its staff by providing them training to polish their skills. “The training sessions will take place in two phases. In the first phase, we will train our officers in revenue laws and the best usage of our software while the second phase will continue alongside their jobs. We are working on the structural development of our staff as we are drafting new service rules and welfare policies,” he concluded.

In January, PLRA announced a series of steps it was taking to get rid of ‘patwari culture’, including the launch of mobile vans in its nine divisional headquarters.
